For most people, visiting Walt Disney World may involve trying to see as many characters as possible, riding every ride and watching the parades. When you’re travelling with children you want to experience all the magic, but if you’re visiting just as a group of adults or a couple, you can embrace the magic of Disney but with some new experiences.

Take time away from the parks and enjoy traditional afternoon tea in the Garden View Room at the Grand Floridian hotel. A perfect way to enjoy one of the finest Disney hotels without paying the price tag!

Fireworks with a view

Combine fine dining with the magic of the nighttime shows by watching from hotels around the Seven Seas Lagoon. Try Ohana at the Polynesian Resort or watch the fireworks and enjoy cakes with the Tomorrowland Terrace Desert party.

You can dine at any Disney hotel restaurant, although some require reservations, or simply explore the grounds around the hotel, some have themed areas, art classes, archery classes. Even travelling between resort hotels can offer a new experience, travel over the Seven Seas Lagoon from Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian or Polynesian resort. Love drawing, running, photography, cooking? Whatever your hobby, take some time in your trip to enjoy it in the surroundings of Disney. I took a day to go around and take photographs of some of the finer details that some may take for granted in the parks.

Embrace your inner child

Enjoy all the perks that being an adult can bring, or simply don’t care about age and do everything a child would do! Re-ride Toy Story Mania to get the highest score, be silly with your favourite characters, or try all the sweets and deserts Disney has to offer.
